The film is devoted to the theme of the deportation of the Kalmyk people in 1943. Through the image of an ordinary family, the director conveys the tragedy and pain of this historical event. The film is inspired by the paintings of his father, Grigory Bembeev, a People’s Artist of the Republic of Kalmykia, and by research works about the deportation. The film tells the story of the strength of spirit, memory, and hope of a people who lost their homeland, and is intended to immortalize the history of one of the most difficult periods in the fate of Kalmykia. It is a socio‑historical drama that reveals the pain and resilience of the people.
